Working within highly restrictive town planning requirements, a pair of townhouses occupies a 7.5m wide block in Melbourne’s inner west. A compact central service ‘pod’ sits at the end of the ground floor living area, containing the butlers pantry, laundry, study, and powder room. This ‘spatial trick’ extends the perception of the space to include the circulation areas. White walls bounce light into the spaces, while exposed Vic Ash beams and American Oak flooring provide contrast and warmth. The exterior is clad in Silvertop Ash and painted recycled brick.
