Set on a densely-treed block on the Yarra River, the design is composed of a series of bagged-brickwork planes, to blur the boundary between outside and inside and invite the bush in.
Designed and energy modeled to meet passive house requirements, the house includes air-tight membranes, heat recovery ventilation in the ceiling cavity, thermal bridging elimination, and a super-insulated building envelope.
Following a highly-complex planning application through Nillumbik Shire Council, including native orchid and butterfly surveys, Eltham House has obtained a planning permit and is currently being tendered.
