Originally home to a canvas maker and then an electric motor winding workshop, this 120-year-old heritage gem in the heart of Ballarat has been transformed into the HQ of Mitchell Harris Wines. Accommodating a bar, dining room, tasting area, and bottle shop – the design incorporates a ‘pod’ bar unit that services each area from a single point. The interior materiality plays with existing steel beams used to hoist large motors and employs a robust material palette of plywood, form ply and black steel – taking cues from the building’s industrial past.
